Funding Priorities

The Komen Quad Cities Affiliate awards grants once a year. Grant applications must cover programs in the Komen Quad Cities Affiliate service area, including Scott, Muscatine, Cedar and Clinton counties in Iowa, and Rock Island, Henry, Mercer and Whiteside counties in Illinois. In support of our promise: To save lives and end breast cancer forever by empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures, the Affiliate will focus its resources on the following types of projects within our service area: those that increase the availability of breast health information; those that increase the availability of financial assistance information, and those that increase the accessibility of affordable breast health care.

Statement of Need

The findings from the 2011 Quad Cities Affiliate Community Profile revealed three areas of priority.

Drawing from the profile the Quad Cities Affiliate has identified the following funding priority areas:

  1. Increase available breast health information
  2. Increase available financial assistance information
  3. Increase the accessibility of affordable breast health care within the eight county coverage area

Up to seventy-five percent of the net proceeds from the Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure? remain in the greater Quad Cities, with twenty-five percent funding the Komen National Grants Program.
